Rabbit 2x4 Tutorial!!! (It's about time!)

What Wendy did Wednesday...

Okay, here we go. The first of two going up today...

Let's make some BUNNIES!

Here's what you'll need...

2x4 block cut to 3.5 x 3.5 inches
black craft wire
1/4 MDF scrap pieces
white, pink and black paint
red ink pad
black sharpie
ribbon
glue gun
paint brushes
sandpaper

**just a few random supply thoughts, if you don't have access to a saw for the ears and nose pieces, try using fun foam for the nose and heavy cardboard for the ears. Or even fabric ears! I gave it a go with white muslin and kinda like it...

Paint all your pieces. Block and ears white, nose nice and pink.
Sand down the edges to give each piece a border.
Add highlight to nose.

Use the ink pad to blush the cheeks and ears. I just use my thumb and rub in small circles.
Add the highlights with white paint and draw in the mouth and ear details with your sharpie.
{See first picture for details...sorry, I guess I forgot to take one of this step}

Cut 3 pieces of craft wire about 4 inches long and glue to center of block.
Glue the nose into place on top of the whiskers.

Dot the eyes with black paint, once dry add white highlights.
 Draw in the eyebrows and add a few freckles with the sharpie.

Glue on the ears and add a pretty bow.
{For these ears, I cut out a long oval and then glued a piece of craft wire inside.
 Stitched completely around it and then tied it in a knot in the center. Blushed the ends and shaped the ears
then glued them in place}
For the wood ears, I drill a hole into the top center of the block and glue the ears into the hole-that's why they look so funny! The long, skinny part hides in the block.
Your happy hopper is done!
Happy Crafting...

Strawberries on My Mind...

Monday Munchies...
I am having a serious problem.
One I can't seem to get away from-I have been crazing strawberries like no tomorrow!
{NO, not preggers, I think I'm just ready for summer!!!}
I was enjoying some alone time in the garden center at Lowe's Saturday {yes, I really do just hang out at Lowe's when I'm alone!} and ran across all the new fruit and veggie plants.
I adopted 30 of the little strawberry beauties and came home a happy gal!

I am clearly not the only one in this predicament!
So many things to try once my babies are full grown...

{just because it's who I am, I go to dessert first}
The Blackberry Vine
 shares the recipe for this delicious looking piece of heaven!
Yeah, I'm thinking this will for sure be my b-day cake this year...
And how about these?
My husband is the only non-strawberry lover in our house but even he wouldn't turn these down.
Why? Because the are cake-pops! Check out the how to's at
 Cute As A Fox

These babies are calling my name! {LOUDLY}

And this is my favorite strawberry pie ever!
Strawberries are on sale this week, so yep, this is our FHE treat tonight...

T.G.I.F.-Thank GOODIES it's Friday #6 and Some Weekend Fun!

Hip-hip Hooray! The weekend is here!
So whatcha gonna do with it?
 Myself, I am determined to enjoy the sun that has finally found it's way back to south Texas and to finish a bunch of 1/2 done projects-it's a long holiday weekend, there is hope for completion!

And then I am so planning to do this...
An essential part of growing up is learning how to Ding Dong Ditch.
Traditionally this is learned and practiced without parent participation...
I say we change that.
I say we teach our children the basics of
Knocking
and
Running
If we don't pass along the
ditching, dashing, diving and ducking skills
we perfected in our youth, those talents are being wasted.
This kind of heart-pounding excitement NEEDS to be passed down through generations.
I wholeheartedly implore you to take your children Ding Dong Ditching...

Love,
A concerned parent.
Totally awesome!
Check out the entire post and get the printable from
Andy over at Poppies at Play
But before you do, let's see all those super fantastic projects you've been working on!

Bedroom Make-over...{What Wendy did Wednesdays}

To be perfectly honest, I haven't done much today, or this week!
 I've been crazy busy with my kids.
I did finish a fun little something this morning but I can't show you.
{It's for a guest post tomorrow}
I'm deliriously excited! And can't wait to share where you can find my little project, it's one of my absolute faves!!!

But I needed something to talk about today and then I remembered my on going project...decorating my #3 and #4 daughter's bedroom and that yes! I have done something.
 I built this...

I did in fact build 2-the other one just didn't get it's doors yet!
My husband claimed the closet in this room for his "office" {it shouldn't be called a closet-it's HUGE}
so my girls needed a place for their clothes. So I built one.
And dang if I am not proud of these buggers!!!
I drew up all the plans and measurements on my own. Measured, cut, glued, screwed, nailed, sanded, painted, and even moved them upstairs ALL BY MYSELF!
{I just need to find the perfect little baskets for the cubbies}
My you-can-do-it inspiration?
A while back I found what used to be called Knock-Off Wood. {It is now Ana White}This woman is my HERO! She is a carpenter, an amazingly talented carpenter. And if you have never been to her site, you must go. She shares plans and guides to build furniture like this...

Thumbnail image for Lydia Toddler Bed

 Everything from what you need to buy to what lengths to have them the pieces cut to. She makes building a table or bed like assembling a giant puzzle. It's fantastic. And free...

I've built a few of her projects now, and they gave me the confidence to tackle designing my own.
Ahh, GIRL POWER!
Go check her site out and then build something amazing!
You're husband/father will be totally jealous. And seriously impressed...
Happy Crafting!
